ABOUT LARA

Lara Berman is a multifaceted and award-winning artist from Montevideo, Uruguay, known for her work as a director, writer, and producer. She has a strong passion for using art to address social issues and inspire positive change in society.

In her early years, Lara embraced acting as a means of self-expression. More recently, she expanded her creative pursuits to include writing, directing and producing musical plays. Demonstrating her commitment to societal improvement, she co-founded Las Ophelias, a production company dedicated to highlighting social problems, taboos, and opportunities across Latin America through the performing arts.

Among her notable works is El Club de los Perfectos, a production created and produced by Las Ophelias, where Lara contributed as a director, writer, and producer. The play has garnered widespread acclaim for its innovative storytelling, addressing themes of perfectionism, societal pressure, and personal growth. It achieved significant recognition, earning eight Florencio Award nominations and winning two prestigious awards—one for Best Original Production and another for Best Direction.
